Message of the charged air, as soon as I let off the gas pedal from some 26psi of boost pressure, the intercooler outlet temperature would skyrocket from about 95 degrees up to some 150 degrees. His BOVs are the SSQ and mounted in the OEM location, after the intercooler. This rise in temperature was amazingly quick - within just a couple of seconds. Those present that day at the dyno will attest to this phenomenon.

The compressor is terribly inefficient at high rotational speeds when there is very little pressure generated.

The BOV can be put just about anywhere and prevent compressor surge, but it will be able to vent the pressure better when it isn't having to pass it through the intercooler and several feet of piping. The other factor of compressor efficiency is really what guides my decision on where to put it since just looking at pressure venting doesn't give enough insight to making a good decision. Just my $.02 on it though...
